Leaving the ER in his splint |
Wyatt wrists 2 days after the break. |
Aunt Paula putting Wys cast on. |
On Saturday June 11, 2011 I received a phone call from Wyatt's dad, my ex husband, Michael. The phone call went like this.
Michael: hey, you know how you have said that Wyatt seems to be more accident prone lately?
Me: Yes
Michael: You know how you ran over his finger two weeks ago and had to take Wy to the ER?
Me: Yes
Michael: You know how he got a black eye in March from baseball practice?
Me: Michael, MY EYES HAVE TEARS IN THEM NOW, JUST TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED TO WYATT!!!!
Michael: I was pushing him at a park on a big tall swing and he fell off. I think he is fine but it happened hours ago and Wyatt's wrist is swollen and still hurts. Kelly thinks we should have it checked out.
Me: Okay, meet me at the ER at St. Johns in Owasso asap.
So to make a long story short, we met at the ER, they did xrays, Wyatt's radius on his left arm is broken at his wrist, close to a growth plate. The ER didn't want to put a cast on it since the break is so close to a growth plate so they put a hard splint on it and said to visit an Orthopedic doctor asap.
We are lucky, our Aunt Paula works at Tulsa Bone and Joint, she made us an appointment for Monday. At that appointment Wyatt got a camouflage cast on his arm. He will have to wear it for approximately four weeks.
Wyatt says he is a man now that he has broken a bone but he was sad that he had to miss the post season baseball tournament.
We cant wait for the cast to come off so we can so summer stuff like go swimming!
